Trans-Generational A Dialogue on the Evolving Meanings of Gender and Sexuality

Dear alumni,

We are especially excited to be celebrating in this coming academic year our 50th anniversary as a program, with the theme “Trans*forming the Future.” In 1972, the Program in Women’s Studies was established in the College of Arts and Sciences and became the first such program to offer a major and minor in women’s studies in the Ivy League. We are the second oldest program in the country! In 2002, we changed our name to Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and we are still the only program in the Ivy League with the word “feminist” in the title. We will also celebrate this year the 30th anniversary of our LGBT Studies program.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: ALUMNI CELEBRATION IN NYC!!!! TIME TO PARTY!

We are very excited to invite you to party in person with us on December 4, 5 p.m., at the Cornell Club in Manhattan.

On this occasion, Professor Juffer will launch her forthcoming book Millenial Feminism at Work: Bridging Theory and Practice, a collection of essays to be released by Cornell University Press on November 15. This collection was inspired by the FGSS alumni panel of March 2019 and includes essays by three Cornell alumni as well as 14 other millenial feminists discussing how they have brought together feminism and work.

If you have any questions, please email Maria Montesano (mem66@cornell.edu) and Jane Juffer (jaj93@cornell.edu).

We hope you can save this date and begin planning how to join us in NYC.
