New York, NY: A Spring Theater Weekend - Staging America Taught By Sara Warner

Immerse yourself in the liveliest of the arts in spirited NYC

Join us for CAU's annual springtime trip to New York City to view three of the season's newest shows, with Cornell's Sara Warner, a theater and performance studies expert, providing historical and thematic contexts and critiques.

In 2022's "Staging America," we'll use pre- and post-show conversations with guest speakers to explore the ways theater has contributed to the construction and deconstruction of American identities, showing how history is made and remade by social actors.

We'll begin with an afternoon session on Friday at the Cornell Club, followed by dinner and an evening performance.

Over the next two days, we'll meet for lectures, enjoy lunches together, and attend a Saturday evening performance and Sunday matinee.

Productions under consideration, depending on availability, include "How I Learned to Drive" by Paula Vogel '16; "Paradise Square" (musical) by Christina Anderson, Craig Lucas, and Marcus Gardley; and "The Skin of Our Teeth" by Thornton Wilder.

All group meals, discussions, and coffee breaks will be held at The Cornell Club - New York, 6 East 44th Street, New York, NY 10017.
