Inside New York City's Blitz to Create Online Classes for 1.1 Million Students

Noliwe Rooks, the W.E.B. Du Bois Professor of Literature, core faculty member of Feminist, Gender, & Sexuality Studies, and author of "Cutting School: Privatization, Segregation, and the End of Public Education," offers insight into the consequences the shift to online learning will have for the 1.1 million students in the NYC public-school system. 

"Children who are not at grade level already, when you put them in an online cyber-only environment, they tend to lose where they are," says Rooks.
